Chapter 4: Excel Formulas
In order to be considered an Excel expert, you have to learn the basics of creating formulas as well as use of functions in Microsoft Excel. The best way to acquire this skill is through practice.
Formulas in this case are a mix of functions, operands and operations.
The function sum ()
This function can be used by typing it directly or using it from the function wizard. To be able to use the function wizard, go to the function library and choose formulas form the menu. You can also type a = in a cell where you want to apply the function, then you will get a list of functions to choose from.
The functions wizard is the best one to use in order to choose the kind of argument that you want to use in every function. It will also provide sufficient information that can help you make the right choice of function. If you type the sum function = for instance, you get an inline wizard which will show you the arguments that you can use with that function.
The sum () function is used to add lists of numbers.
Example: suppose you have the following information in an Excel worksheet:
A
B
